"Forum on Responding and Preventing Sexual Violence during a war"
JANE ALIEVA, director of the PAYBACK4UKRAINE legal campaign and founder of the MAMA JANE Charity Foundation:
THE WORLD IS AWARE OF THE MASSIVE CASES OF VIOLENCE BY THE RUSSIAN OCCUPIERS DURING THE WAR WITH UKRAINE
During the forum "Interaction between state authorities, regional representatives of the Ombudsman for Human Rights of the Ukrainian Parliament and public organizations and international partners with the goal of increasing awareness and expertise in responding and preventing Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict", the speaker of the event, Jane Alieva, emphasized the need for punishment of Russian war criminals, in particular involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children.
"We have to talk about it in legal language. Abroad, people sometimes do not believe that victims of sexual violence are Ukrainians aged 4 to 82. These are children, women, men and the elderly. Therefore, our government officials, the public, and the mass media should constantly talk about it," Ms. Alieva said.
"It is important that the world reacts, acts and talks about it. Maybe not as fast as we would like. However, all known cases of violence against the civilian population by Russian military personnel must be made public and documented! Then we will be sure that everyone involved in violent war crimes will be punished," Jane Alieva assured.
During the event, Jane Alieva also supported the introduction of the National symbol of solidarity with victims of sexual violence in the form of a rapeseed flower.
